Dr Muryanto Amin: USU Prepares to Transform from Analog to Digital Systems

USU'S MEDAN-HUMAS: Rector of the University of North Sumatra, Dr. Muryanto Amin, said efforts to increase university accreditation, university independence and government intervention played a major role in determining university achievements. This was mentioned by the Chancellor in his remarks at the inauguration of 22 heads of institutions and work units within USU, Monday (15/3/2021).

"There are universities that are included in the Champion University quadrant. This shows that the government has a big role in campus management and accreditation process. Unlike us, USU is PTNBH which is mandated to be able to innovate on its own and the government is hands-off in university management. That is why we are included in the Industry University quadrant, ”he said.

The Chancellor added that all the efforts that will be carried out later will lead to one big step, namely the digitization of the campus. The Chancellor hopes that in the future USU can implement a digital system so that work efficiency and effectiveness can be realized.

"PSI as the leading sector I hope that at least one year in the future it can realize the system transition from analog to digital at USU," said USU's Chancellor.

The USU Chancellor added that before this can be implemented, we must have an open mindset that the digital system will help and improve performance in USU's environment.

"However, it is far more important not to prepare the infrastructure, but our mindset that the digital system will increase performance efficiency. I have implemented this in FISIP, the digitization was the pros and cons for the first 6 months. But after that the entire academic community there can feel the benefits. This shows that the mindset is more important for us to change first. If there is an infrastructure problem, we can complete it all, "he added.
