USU MEDAN-HUMAS: In order to equalize perceptions and program socialization, the Chancellor of the University of North Sumatra (USU), Dr. Muryanto Amin, S Sos, M Si, held a coordination meeting with all heads of institutions and work units within USU, Wednesday (17/3 / 2021), at 10.00 WIB, at the USU ISIP Faculty Multipurpose Building.

By bringing up the issue of "Facing Disruption and the Future of USU", the Chancellor invited all heads of institutions and work units within USU to recognize USU's challenges in the future so that they could come up with innovations to face these challenges.

"The internationalization of USU is our goal by carrying the tagline of being powerful, agile, and learner. Powerful in this case we must have the ability and strength to work on our programs, agile shows that we must be agile and able to adapt to developments that occur, as well as where the learner is. we must continue to open up and learn, "said the Chancellor of USU.

The Chancellor of USU explained that USU had all the resources to be able to achieve existing targets, but it needed collaboration, coordination, and linkages of all institutions and work units within USU. With the continuity between institutions and work units, he believes that it will be easier for USU to improve its ranking.

"All institutions and work units in USU cannot run alone and carry out their respective activities without coordination and communication with other institutions and work units. All existing institutions and work units must be connected so that there are clear and measurable outputs and outcomes." , he added.

USU's Chancellor considers that USU's output and outcome are still low, so that it will be difficult to improve USU's ranking in the future. He explained that all parties are interrelated so that no one has a high workload while the other does not. This will also affect the determination of the nominal income received by educators based on the workload they receive.

Furthermore, the Chancellor of USU reminded all leaders of institutions and work units to remain guided by the Tri Darma of higher education as a framework for generating innovation and breakthroughs. The Tri Darma component which consists of teaching, research, and community service must be able to adapt to current developments.

"Curriculum restructuring as a form of teaching implementation needs to be done immediately. Currently our curriculum cannot answer the challenges of a developing era. Science cannot be analogized as a tree, but science now is an ecosystem with every component. Exact science and science cannot be separated. social, everything is mutually integrated and complementary, "said Dr Muryanto Amin.

In line with this, the Chancellor encouraged research and community service to be improved because it had a major impact on USU's ranking efforts. The role of the USU Research Institute and the USU Community Service Institute is considered important to be able to formulate these steps for improvement.

"Research groups and collaboration with experts abroad can improve our assessment in the ranking. I hope USU's LP and LPPM can design how this can be implemented," said the USU Chancellor.

On that occasion, the Chancellor of USU also emphasized the importance of digitalization within USU in order to facilitate collaboration and coordination efforts of every institution and work unit within USU. He mentioned that institutions and work units can be digitally integrated so that all activities at USU can be recorded and stored.

"In the future we have a data center where all activities, information, and data are collected in a container. This aims to facilitate and improve work efficiency. Even the needs of students such as paying tuition fees we direct it to be done through mobile banking so there is no need for it anymore. to the bank, ”said the USU Chancellor.
