USU'S MEDAN-HUMAS: The role of the Council of Professors (DGB) of the University of North Sumatra (USU) as a forum for professors within USU is considered very important to support the internationalization of the campus. The experience and knowledge that is owned becomes the capital to be able to have a real impact on society.

"I feel the need for this DGB to be capitalized so that it has an existence that can be felt, both within the university and in the community," said USU Chancellor, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S Sos, M Si, when receiving USU's DGB visit in the Chancellors' Meeting Room, Tuesday (6/4/2021).

The Chancellor believes that USU's professors have enormous resources. With so many professors at USU, he believes that USU's role as a university can be felt by the community.

The Chancellor encouraged USU's DGB to form more study centers and centers of excellence at USU. The establishment of this study center and center of excellence will have an impact on USU's ranking in the future.

"Many universities have also created study centers and centers of excellence. I hope that USU can do that. This can help USU to improve its ranking both at the national and international levels, "he said.

Dr Muryanto Amin is of the opinion that the more active DGB in carrying out scientific activities will have a positive impact on the community and the region. Research and community service carried out are the main tasks of a professor.

"Input and ideas from DGB can accelerate regional growth in a wide area, but in particular I hope we can help the community around the campus first with the social problems that exist there," he added.

The internationalization of the campus which is the focus of the USU Chancellor is also considered to be able to be assisted by the increasingly active DGB. DGB's activities that are in touch with academics and non-academics make DGB an important position to help USU in the internationalization process.

"In the past five years, we are pursuing campus internationalization. With DGB being active in conducting research, community service, and establishing a study center and center of excellence that I mentioned earlier, we can achieve the internationalization of the campus, "said the chancellor.

The Chairman of USU's DGB, Prof. Gontar Alamsyah, appreciated the enthusiasm and efforts of the USU Chancellor to encourage the existence of DGB. The chancellor's support is the motivation for DGB to carry out future activities.

"I am very grateful to the Chancellor who took his time for this gathering. With the support from the chancellor, DGB will be even more enthusiastic about contributing to USU. We will also improve the works that we have created so far, "said Prof. Gontar.

He also said that he would invite the Chancellor of USU to the USU DGB Meeting in the future to be able to provide input, views, and listen to the aspirations of DGB at USU.
